Tom Rosenthal

The beauty of Tom Rosenthal’s music lies in his subject matter: the many minutiae that collectively comprise everyday life. A prime example– the upbeat song “Watermelon”, in which he jubilantly proclaims “boom boom boom boom, it’s a fruit based love!” The notable tunes “Don’t You Know How Busy and Important I Am?” and “Panda in the Chandelier” similarly differentiate Mr. Rosenthal from your typical singer-songwriter crooning about love. His newest album, Bolu, celebrates the randomness of life with a potpourri of this type of track.

Don’t be fooled into classifying Mr. Rosenthal’s music as bouncy pop, however; he also excels in the downtempo domain. My favorite track, the wistful “Run For Those Hills, Babe”, is a graceful piano ode to his newborn child.

Be sure to also check out his spectacular collaboration with Max Brodie, “Be Good”.
